In the early hours one Wednesday in 2005, a young woman was found on the pier of Subic Bay Freeport Zone, drunk, disheveled and crying. She claimed to have been raped by American serviceman Daniel Smith, resulting in a landmark case tried under the Philippines-United States Visiting Forces Agreement.
